TUrberg_speech

We have been talking about the importance of knowing the different parts of speech. Let’s talk about them one by one.

First, we are going to discuss everything you need to know about nouns then we are going to proceed to pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions and interjections. To give you an idea of what they are, here’s a short definition for each of them.

Nouns – words that refer to names of people, things, places, animals, substances, actions, emotions and abstract ideas

Pronouns – words that take the place of nouns

Verbs – words that show or indicate action, words that show state of being

Adjectives – words that describe nouns or pronouns

Adverbs – words that describe verbs, adjectives and other adverbs

Prepositions – words that link nouns or pronouns to the other parts of the sentence

Interjections – words that indicate emotions or strong feelings

Conjunctions – words that join words, phrases or sentences

It is easier to learn and use the words you learn if you know their function in the sentence.
