jolt (v) – to jerk, to disturb (someone’s) composure

jolt (n) – sudden movement

jolted (adj) – shocked, shaken (due to a sudden impact/movement)

Examples:

1. The door closed with a jolt.
2. The audience was jolted by the musical.
3. The jolted passengers complained to the driver because of reckless driving.
4. The jolts from the earthquake created a huge damage.
